About me

Hi! I’m Robin Lanehurst, Professional Counselor Associate. Welcome to Words and Webs!

I am a white, queer, non-binary, and neurodivergent therapist, mother, writer, educator, and dreamer with a deep commitment to justice, liberation, abolition, and community care.

I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and spent a decade in Texas before relocating to the Pacific Northwest. A former public school teacher and counselor, I now work as a therapist at Bridges Therapy Group and teach writing classes to adults and teens around Portland. (You can learn more about my creative work here!)

As a therapist, I’m passionate about supporting clients to navigate daily challenges with empathy, humor, curiosity, and a liberation mindset. I enjoy working with parents and caregivers through life transitions, identity exploration, and family conflict. I also support artists and creatives, individuals processing grief and loss, and folks who are queer and neurodivergent.

My approach to therapy is warm, strengths-based, and playful. I believe in building a collaborative therapeutic relationship focused on building resilience and developing self-awareness. I utilize interventions from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as narrative, art, and experiential therapy techniques.

I received my M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017, where I completed advanced coursework in mindfulness, play therapy & sand tray interventions, and career development. I’ve also obtained training through Starr Commonwealth’s Trauma Informed Care program. I’m currently practicing under the supervision of Majken Elek, LPC (#C4628).
