Meet Robin
I am a white, queer, non-binary, and neurodivergent therapist, mother, writer, educator, and dreamer with a deep commitment to justice, liberation, abolition, and community care.
My approach to therapy is warm, strengths-based, and playful. I am passionate about supporting clients to navigate life transitions, identity exploration, family conflict, and daily challenges with empathy, humor, curiosity, and a liberation mindset. I particularly enjoy working with young people ages 10-18, parents & caregivers, artists & creatives, and folks who are LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent. I am experienced working with and affirming of a wide variety of family structure, including foster & adoptive families, blended families, polyamorous families, and queer families.
As a therapist, I believe in balancing my clients’ development of insight into their past histories, patterns, values, and personalities with our co-creation of concrete strategies to support tangible behavior changes. My focus is on building a collaborative relationship, nurturing resilience, and developing self-awareness. My work is person-centered and trauma-informed, and leans on solution-focused, play-based, narrative, and somatic interventions.
I earned my Master’s of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2017. I have fifteen years of experience working in public schools as a classroom teacher, professional school counselor, Section 504 coordinator, and arts educator. I have also written a wide range of curriculum for students, parents & families, and educators about anxiety, suicide prevention, ADHD, middle school success, and relationship violence prevention. I also teach writing classes to adults and teens around Portland. (You can learn more about my creative work here!)
In my free time, you can find me collecting interesting rocks, singing with the Wild Rose Resistance Choir, working on my novel manuscript, pulling tarot cards, learning to play the harmonica, or in the woods marking the Wheel of the Year with my family. I’m also always in pursuit of the perfect cup of coffee!
